Sunday Funday

This weekend was one of those perfect weekends where everything just seems to come together flawlessly. The weather was beyond amazing (hello, 74° in February!), my hilarious friend Nicola was visiting from San Francisco (my face still hurts from laughing so hard), I got to hang with some of my favorite people and well, some other awesome things happened, but a girl has to keep some stuff to herself. Right?

What I do want to share with you is a little bit about my Sunday funday, which started out with breakfast at Orphan Breakfast House, a fabulous little eatery tucked back in a quiet part of East Sacramento. The restaurant prides itself on using simple, fresh ingredients that make for a healthy and bountiful breakfast that is quite tasty. On top of that, the staff is always super friendly and attentive. One member of the staff even offered to snap a group shot of me and my friends (thanks, pretty lady!). And, of course, my friends weren’t allowed to touch their plates until I had photographed the food. Sorry, guys!

After breakfast, Nathan, Sarah, Walter (my pooch) and I took a walk to Fremont Park, where we lounged in the sun for a couple hours. It was absolute perfection. At any rate, here are some pics I took during my Sunday funday:

orphan french toast - fresh-baked cinnamon bread dipped and grilled to perfection served with real maple syrup and garnished with a fresh fruit puree.
soy chorizo breakfast - three eggs scrambled with soy chorizo and jack cheese served atop crispy corn tortillas and black beans garnished with roma tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, scallions, cilantro and avocado. yum!
naked cakes - three house made buttermilk pancakes served with real maple syrup.
g.f.y. - house-made granola, fresh fruit & yogurt served with a drizzle of honey.
group shot of me and my lovely and amazing friends. (l-r) me, sarah, nate, rosemary, joy, nicola and maddie.
nathan soaks up some sun.
