For those of you who haven’t already heard the news, we are expecting our first child this September! We wanted a fun way to tell our parents—especially because my dad and Jeff’s mom don’t live in the immediate area. So, we enlisted the help of Etsy seller Little Elephant Crafts, who makes custom quail egg pregnancy announcements. We scheduled the eggs to be delivered at just around the 12 week mark and then we waited eagerly for the phone calls to come in.
The funniest part about the quail eggs was that none of our parents actually wanted to crack the eggs. I basically had to force my mom to do it (she thought the egg was just so cute), and my dad admitted to using a very sharp knife to try and do as little damage as possible to the egg. Of course, once the eggs were cracked and the initial shock had passed, everyone was happy to hear the news. Now, we just wait for September when we get to meet our baby boy!
